iTunes Festival – Calvin Harris + Kiesza

So, I bagged myself a pair of tickets to Calvin Harris’ iTunes Festival show. Nice one.

I was especially thrilled after finding out that the gorgeous Kiesza will be opening up.

Having seen both of them live before, I knew I was in for a treat and well, I just couldn’t wait for Sunday night to begin.

My friend and I got to the iconic Roundhouse by 7pm and trust me, you surely can tell that the best paid DJ in the world is standing behind the decks tonight by the massive queues, waiting and hoping to get in.

As there was still plenty of time until Kiesza took up the stage,  we headed for the rooftop bar and got ourselves some drinks. There is something that I love about Roundhouse’s rooftop bar, despite not really having a view, it’s just so relaxed and a nice place to be in.

At 7:45pm the lights went off inside Camden’s Roundhouse and Kiesza came on. Lovely as usual she danced her way straight into our hearts and while performing her second single ‘Giant In My Heart’ the crowd was happily singing along. This was followed by a beautiful piano cover of Haddaway’s ‘What Is Love’ and the best Jeff Buckley’s ‘Hallelujah’.

Halfway during her performance Kiesza revealed that she finished her debut album ‘Sound Of A Woman’ which will be out very soon. She closed her set by a spectacular performance of her Number One Hit ‘Hideaway’ and this was the point where everyone got their Smartphone out to take home a little bit of that Kiesza magic.

Sharp 9pm it was time for some Scottish delight. Calvin Harris clearly made a statement of how the night will go, by opening up with the smashing ‘Under control’. It was mental. The Roundhouse was packed to the roof and everyone was beyond excitement. Calvin Harris’ set was just one massive rave. Smoke machines and strobe light galore. Every single person was without doubt having the time of their lives and raving and living it up to the famous tunes of the famous Scotsman. Our ears got treated to the likes of ‘I Need Your Love’, ‘Sweet Nothing’ and the glorious ‘We Found Love’.  I kind of lost it when I heard the – oh so familiar – tunes of Calvin Harris and Example’s ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’, I just can’t help a little bit of Example. 🙂

The atmosphere was buzzing, it felt like a proper Saturday night down in favourite club. For the length of Calvin’s set nobody thought about that it is actually Sunday night and it will be time to rise and shine again in a few hours.

As a special guest, John Newman was joining the stage for their recent collaboration ‘Blame’. This was a great surprise and the crowd thanked by screaming and actually already knowing the lyrics. The hour long banging set was closed by Calvin Harris’ smash hit ‘Summer’. One last time we were all letting loose and just went with it.

This was truly an amazing night, I am sure there are worse ways to spend a Sunday evening.

Whooop whooop,
